The firm
Built on audit, grown into a full practice
The firm opened in Gaborone on 25 April 1992. It was built on audit and assurance work for private companies in Botswana, and has grown into a full accounting practice: bookkeeping and management accounts, tax compliance and planning, and consultancy for feasibility studies, internal audit and business process reviews.
Our clients range from transport and tourism operators to motor dealerships, diamond polishers, insurance brokers and non-governmental organisations. Several are subsidiaries of groups in Belgium, India and South Africa, for whom we prepare consolidated financial statements.
The firm is led by its Managing Partner and its Managing Director. Each engagement is planned, reviewed and signed off by a partner, and clients deal with the same people year after year.

Zaeem Anwar
Managing Partner

Zaeem Anwar is the Managing Partner of Sharma & Associates. He is a Fellow of the Botswana Institute of Chartered Accountants, a Chartered Accountant (India) and a Global Chartered Management Accountant (UK).
He has more than 30 years' experience in audit, taxation, accounting and consulting services, acquired at chartered accountants' firms in India and in Botswana, and has been Managing Partner of Sharma & Associates since 2013. He leads the firm's tax team and is registered with the Botswana Accountancy Oversight Authority as a Certified Auditor.
Away from the office, Zaeem is a keen squash player and a member of the Botswana Squash Club.
